Status: The brief's name 'Secrets Decoded' is verified: the relaunch's first set is 'Dawn of Perim: Secrets Decoded', published by Panini America in partnership with Chaotic Entertainment (ICv2, retailer listings). As of 13 October 2026 the set had not yet released, so no live price trackers for it could be verified, and no PriceCharting, TCGplayer or Cardmarket page for original or relaunched Chaotic cards could be loaded. The rarity breakdown (81 Common, 75 Uncommon, 30 Rare, 13 Super Rare, 11 Ultra Rare, 5 Secret) comes from a retailer pre-order listing rather than Panini directly. Starter deck card counts differ between sources (ICv2 says 52 cards; one retailer lists two 24-card Foundation Decks) and are omitted. Foil or parallel treatments for the relaunch are unconfirmed. Wikipedia's list of original sets is internally inconsistent, so the original set count is omitted.

What makes Chaotic TCG Relaunch collectable
Its roots are Danish, but the version most people remember was redesigned after 4Kids Entertainment acquired the rights in 2005 and handed development to its subsidiary, TC Digital Games. The cards reached US shops on 24 October 2007, backed by an animated series, and every card carried a code that unlocked the same card in a free online game.
The original game faded quickly. Sales fell sharply during the 2008 downturn, the cartoon ended after three seasons, and 4Kids and TC Digital Games ceased trading in the early 2010s. The rights later passed to Bryan Gannon, who had led TC Digital Games, and he campaigned for years to bring the game back. That long dormancy, combined with the code-on-every-card gimmick, gave the original cards a nostalgic following among adults who played them as children.
On 20 May 2026 Chaotic Entertainment announced the relaunch with Panini America handling production and release. The first set is Dawn of Perim: Secrets Decoded, a 215-card release with all-new artwork. Booster boxes, Overworld and Underworld starter decks and smaller Foundation Decks are listed by retailers, with the hobby release scheduled for late October 2026 and wider retail distribution from late January 2027. Organised play is due to begin in early 2027 across the US and Canada.
For collectors the relaunch is still an unknown quantity, since cards were not yet on general release at the time of writing. Retail listings show a rarity ladder topped by Super Rare, Ultra Rare and a small Secret tier, and Panini has promised premium finishes without yet detailing foil treatments. Early promotional pieces, such as the oversized Tangath Toborn card given out at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, are likely to be the first relaunch items collectors chase.
What drives the value
- Nostalgia: adults who played the 2007–2010 game are the core collector audience for both old and new cards.
- Rarity tier: Ultra Rare and the five-card Secret tier in Secrets Decoded are the obvious relaunch chase cards.
- Variable stats on original cards: Creature stats differ between copies, so high-stat originals are preferred by players and collectors.
- Unused codes: on original cards, an unscratched or unused online code is part of the appeal for completists.
- Promotional and exclusive items, such as the SDCC 2026 oversized Tangath Toborn and the GameStop exclusive product.
- Iconic characters from the cartoon, such as Maxxor, Chaor and Tangath Toborn.
How to spot the real thing
- Original cards (2007–2010) show the rarity through the colour of the Chaotic symbol: black for Common, green for Uncommon, gold for Rare, and silver with 'Super' or 'Ultra' beneath for Super and Ultra Rare.
- Relaunch cards are branded with Panini and the Dawn of Perim: Secrets Decoded set, and feature all-new artwork rather than the 2007 illustrations.
- Every original card has a 12-character alphanumeric code for online play; promotional and demo cards may lack a usable code.
- Check sealed relaunch products for Panini America branding and correct configurations: booster displays of 18 ten-card packs, and starter decks containing Foundation Decks, mini packs, a rulebook and playmat.
Notable cards
| Card | Why collectors want it |
|---|---|
| Tangath Toborn (SDCC 2026 oversized promo) | An exclusive oversized Creature card handed out at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 ahead of the relaunch, available only while supplies lasted. |
| Maxxor | The OverWorld leader and one of the most iconic Creatures from the show and the original card game. |
| Chaor | The UnderWorld ruler and Maxxor's great rival, a fan favourite from the original game. |
| Secrets Decoded Secret rares | Retailer listings show only five Secret cards in the 215-card relaunch set, making them its scarcest tier. |
