About Fantasy Flight Games
Over the following decades it built a reputation for large, heavily themed games, including Arkham Horror, Netrunner, The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game and Marvel Champions.
In 2014 Fantasy Flight merged with the French group Asmodee and became part of Asmodee's North American business. Asmodee itself later passed into Embracer Group's ownership and was spun out again as a separate listed company, with its shares starting to trade on Nasdaq Stockholm on 7 February 2025. Fantasy Flight now operates as one of Asmodee's studios, alongside many other well-known hobby game brands.
Fantasy Flight has a long history with Star Wars, having secured the licence for Star Wars card, miniatures and role-playing games in 2011. That produced titles such as Star Wars: The Card Game, X-Wing, Armada and Imperial Assault. Its newest Star Wars project is Star Wars: Unlimited, a trading card game designed by Danny Schaefer that launched with Spark of Rebellion on 8 March 2024 and has since released new main sets roughly three times a year.
For collectors, Fantasy Flight shapes the Star Wars: Unlimited market through its rarity design (Hyperspace, Showcase and serialised cards), its regular convention exclusives and a structured organised-play ladder that culminates in the Galactic Championship. The first Galactic Championship was held at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas in July 2025, and the event's prize promos are among the game's scarcest cards.
