What makes Union Arena Crossover Sets collectable

It launched in Japan in March 2023, and Bandai announced an English edition at the end of that year with titles picked specifically for the North American market. The English game arrived on 4 October 2024 with BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War and HUNTER X HUNTER boosters, followed by Jujutsu Kaisen on 22 November 2024.

Since then the English line-up has grown quickly, adding series such as Code Geass, Demon Slayer, One Punch Man, Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist, Yu Yu Hakusho, Solo Leveling, Chainsaw Man and Inuyasha, alongside second volumes for the most popular licences. That breadth is the game's main hook for collectors: fans of a particular show can chase that series alone, so demand for each set often tracks the popularity of the anime rather than the game as a whole.

The base rarities are Common, Uncommon, Rare and Super Rare, plus Action Point (AP) cards that turn up at a low pull rate. Above these sit star-marked parallels (shown as ★, ★★ and ★★★), with the ★★★ tier at the top. Bandai has also included foil cards with stamped serial numbers in certain products; its page for Jujutsu Kaisen Vol.2 states that just 100 serial-numbered copies of one card exist. Launch sets also featured foil signature cards autographed by the Japanese voice actors.

For collectors, the mix of crossover licences, tiny print runs on the top parallels and voice-actor signatures makes Union Arena an unusually varied market. Prices can move sharply when a new anime season airs or a set is announced, and the top three or four parallels in a set frequently account for a large share of its total value. Because the game targets North America first, UK buyers should check stock and import costs carefully.

What drives the value

  • Popularity of the licence, with Jujutsu Kaisen, Hunter x Hunter and Bleach among the strongest
  • Star tier: ★★★ parallels and serial-numbered foils sit far above standard Super Rares
  • Very low print numbers on serialised cards (for example 100 copies of one Jujutsu Kaisen Vol.2 card)
  • Voice-actor signature cards featuring main characters
  • First-wave English sets from 2024, which have a natural scarcity as the line expands
  • Character choice: protagonists and fan favourites such as Gojo, Itadori, Gon and Ichigo

How to spot the real thing

  • Check the rarity code at the card's corner for star marks (★, ★★, ★★★) after the rarity letters
  • Look for a stamped serial number on serialised foils, and match the card number to Bandai's product page
  • English cards use a set code beginning UE (or UEX for Vol.2 sets), e.g. UE03BT/JJK-1-040
  • Signature parallels show a printed foil autograph from the Japanese voice actor of that character

Questions people ask

What is Union Arena?

Union Arena is a Bandai trading card game where each set is based on a different anime or manga, all playable under one shared rulebook. It launched in Japan in March 2023 and in English in October 2024.

When did Union Arena come out in English?

The English edition launched on 4 October 2024 with BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War and HUNTER X HUNTER, with Jujutsu Kaisen following on 22 November 2024.

What do the stars mean on Union Arena cards?

Stars after the rarity mark parallel versions, running from ★ up to ★★★. The ★★★ cards are the rarest and most valuable, and some share their design with serial-numbered foils.

Are there serial numbered Union Arena cards?

Yes. Bandai includes foil cards stamped with serial numbers in certain products, and its Jujutsu Kaisen Vol.2 page says only 100 numbered copies of one card exist.

What are AP cards in Union Arena?

AP stands for Action Point. These cards are part of gameplay rather than a chase rarity, and they appear in boosters at a low pull rate.

Is Union Arena available in the UK?

The English edition was announced and launched for North America, so UK availability can be patchy. Compare UK stockists with EU marketplaces such as CardTrader, which lists Union Arena singles and sealed product in euros.
