What makes Dragon Ball Super: Fusion World collectable
It uses smaller decks, a new energy system and Leader cards that can awaken mid-game, so cards from the older game are not compatible. The first booster, FB01 Awakened Pulse, reached Japanese shelves on 16 February 2024 and English shelves a week later, with regular FB-numbered boosters following roughly every few months since.
A key part of the launch was a free digital edition for Windows PC, released on 29 February 2024 and tied to a Bandai Namco ID. The physical and digital versions share the same card pool, and official competition reflects that: the Championship 2024–2025 Grand Finals in Pasadena in March 2025 ran a physical tournament for regional qualifiers alongside a digital bracket, and Bandai has since run a free-entry worldwide Digital Championship.
For collectors, the rarity ladder runs from Common through Uncommon, Rare and Super Rare to Secret Rare, with Leaders marked separately. Many cards also come as alternate arts, signified by a star, and the very top of each main set is a gold-foil 'Super Alternate Art' version of the Secret Rare. FB01 introduced the game's first two Secret Rares and gave all eight of its Leaders alternate-art versions, establishing the pattern later sets have followed.
In 2025 Bandai added the Manga Booster sub-series (SB01 and SB02), whose alternate arts are credited to Akira Toriyama's own manga artwork, giving collectors a distinct and highly desirable strand to chase. Values across Fusion World are driven less by the rarity letter than by the art treatment, the character and competitive playability, so a popular Leader alternate art can outstrip a standard Secret Rare.
What drives the value
- Art tier: Super Alternate Art Secret Rares sit at the top, ahead of standard alternate arts
- Character popularity, especially Son Goku, Vegeta, Vegito, Gohan and Frieza
- Competitive demand for Leaders and staple cards in the current meta
- Manga Booster alternate arts credited to Akira Toriyama
- Finish: holo versions of some alternate arts are tracked separately and can sell above the non-holo version
- Graded condition, with PSA 10 copies of top alternate arts trading well above raw
How to spot the real thing
- Check the rarity symbol in the bottom-right corner (C, UC, R, SR, SCR or L)
- Look for the star mark denoting an alternate art, and extended or full-bleed artwork
- Super Alternate Art Secret Rares use gold foil, distinguishing them from standard SCR alternate arts
- Set codes begin FB (main boosters), FS (starter decks) or SB (Manga Boosters), e.g. FB01-139
