What makes Yu-Gi-Oh! Quarter Century Secret Rares collectable
They first appeared in Japan in February 2023 in Rarity Collection Quarter Century Edition, and in the English Trading Card Game in Legendary Collection: 25th Anniversary Edition that April, where each box included one bonus card in the new finish. Konami always presented the rarity as limited to the anniversary period.
The finish combines full-card Secret Rare foiling with a speckled, champagne-gold holographic card name. A watermark of the 25th anniversary Quarter Century logo sits in the centre of the text box, making these cards easy to tell apart from ordinary Secret Rares. Because the effect relies on fine foil detail, centring, surface scratches and edge wear show readily, which is why graded examples are so prominent on the market.
In the English game, QCSRs appeared across a run of anniversary products and a number of booster sets. The 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection, released in November 2023, offered 79 cards in seven rarities each, including QCSR. Quarter Century Bonanza in late 2024 and Quarter Century Stampede in April 2025 guaranteed a luxury Secret Rare in every pack, and Konami described Stampede and the following booster set, Alliance Insight, as among the last chances to pull the rarity.
With the rarity now retired, collectors focus on two kinds of QCSR. One is iconic classic monsters such as Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician Girl, which attract nostalgic buyers. The other is heavily played tournament staples like Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, which appeal to players who want the best-looking copy of a card they use. Alternate artworks introduced in the later sets add a further layer of chase versions.
What drives the value
- Iconic characters from the anime era, such as Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician Girl.
- Competitive staples that players want in premium finish, for example hand traps like Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.
- Condition: QCSR foil scratches and whitens easily, so PSA 10 or equivalent copies sell at large premiums.
- Alternate artwork exclusive to a particular product.
- The rarity's retirement, which fixes total supply once the anniversary products are out of print.
- Which product a card came from, since pull rates and print runs differ between sets.
How to spot the real thing
- Look for the 25th Quarter Century logo watermark in the middle of the text box; standard Secret Rares do not have it.
- Check the card name: QCSRs have a speckled champagne-gold foil name rather than the silver or rainbow of other rarities.
- Tilt the card under light: the Secret Rare foil pattern should cover the whole card, including the artwork and borders.
- Match the set code (for example RA01, RA03 or RA04) against a database such as Yugipedia to confirm the card was printed as a QCSR.
Notable cards
| Card | Why collectors want it |
|---|---|
| Blue-Eyes White Dragon (Quarter Century Bonanza, RA03) | The game's most famous monster in the anniversary finish; it heads PriceCharting's Quarter Century Bonanza list. |
| Dark Magician Girl (Quarter Century Bonanza, RA03) | A long-standing fan favourite whose QCSR is one of the most sought-after cards in the set. |
| Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring (25th Anniversary Rarity Collection, RA01) | A widely played hand trap and Yugipedia's example card for the rarity; it was reprinted again in Quarter Century Stampede. |
| Dark Magician (Quarter Century Bonanza) | Yugi's signature monster, included in the Bonanza nostalgia pool alongside Blue-Eyes White Dragon. |
| Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion (25th Anniversary Rarity Collection) | Another popular hand trap, appealing to players looking to upgrade their decks with premium copies. |
| Evenly Matched (25th Anniversary Rarity Collection) | A powerful competitive trap that YGOPRODeck has listed among the set's most valuable QCSRs. |

Questions people ask
What is a Quarter Century Secret Rare in Yu-Gi-Oh?
It is a special rarity Konami made for the game's 25th anniversary. The card has full Secret Rare foiling, a speckled champagne-gold name and a 25th anniversary logo watermark in the text box.
When did Quarter Century Secret Rares come out?
They debuted in Japan in February 2023 and in the English TCG in April 2023 with Legendary Collection: 25th Anniversary Edition. They then appeared in various sets through to 2025.
Are Quarter Century Secret Rares being discontinued?
Yes. Konami said the rarity was tied to the 25th anniversary celebration, and described Quarter Century Stampede and Alliance Insight as among the final sets to include it.
How do I tell a Quarter Century Secret Rare from a normal Secret Rare?
Look for the 25th Quarter Century logo watermark in the centre of the text box and the champagne-gold speckled card name. A normal Secret Rare has neither.
Which Quarter Century Secret Rares are worth the most?
Iconic monsters such as Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician Girl, and in-demand staples like Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, tend to lead. Graded copies in top condition are worth far more than raw ones.
Is it worth grading Quarter Century Secret Rares?
For popular cards in excellent condition, often yes, as the foil is fragile and high grades are scarce. Inspect the surface and centring closely first, since small scratches can rule out a top grade.
