How a turn works in the Pokémon TCG
- Draw a card.
- Do any of these, in any order:
- Put Basic Pokémon onto your Bench (up to 5 on the Bench).
- Evolve Pokémon — but not on your first turn, and not a Pokémon that was played this turn.
- Attach one Energy card from your hand (once per turn).
- Play Item cards (as many as you like).
- Play one Supporter card (once per turn).
- Play one Stadium card.
- Retreat your Active Pokémon (once per turn) by discarding Energy equal to its Retreat Cost.
- Use Abilities.
- Attack. This ends your turn. The player who goes first can't attack or play a Supporter on their very first turn.
Weakness and Resistance
If the defending Pokémon is weak to your attacker's type, damage is usually doubled (×2). Resistance usually takes 30 off.
Prize cards
Each player sets aside 6 Prize cards. Knock Out a normal Pokémon and you take 1. Pokémon ex give up 2, and Mega Evolution Pokémon ex give up 3. Take all your Prizes to win — or win if your opponent has no Pokémon left in play or can't draw at the start of their turn.
Pully Play is an independent fan guide. It isn't run by The Pokémon Company. Format facts are checked against official announcements; always confirm card legality with the official rules before a tournament.
