How to spot fake Pokémon cards

Some people make fake Pokémon cards and sell them as real ones. Here's what to look for.

Check the back

The back of a real card has a rich blue swirl and a clear Poké Ball. Fake backs often look too light, too dark, or a bit purple.

Look at the writing

Fakes often have spelling mistakes, the wrong letters, or writing in a slightly different style from your other cards.

Feel the card

Real cards feel firm. Many fakes feel thin, bendy or very shiny.

Too many rare cards

A packet with lots of super-rare cards and a very low price is usually fake. Real rare cards are hard to find.

Check the number and set

Look up the card on Pully. If the number or rarity doesn't match, ask a grown-up to help you check.

Young collectors: always ask a parent or carer before buying cards, trading online or sharing anything about yourself on the internet.
