Pokémon card regulation marks: what the letter means
Every Pokémon card printed since 2019 has a small letter in a white box at the bottom-left corner. This is the regulation mark.
Why does it matter?
Each season, the oldest marks leave the Standard format. Right now the legal marks are H, I, J. Anything older can only be played in Expanded or casual games.
How many legal cards are there?
| Mark | Cards |
|---|---|
| H | 1283 |
| I | 1217 |
| J | 578 |
Basic Energy cards have no regulation mark and are always legal.
Pully Play is an independent fan guide. It isn't run by The Pokémon Company. Format facts are checked against official announcements; always confirm card legality with the official rules before a tournament.
