Trading Pokémon cards with friends: fair trading tips

Swapping cards is a great way to finish a set and share your favourites. Here's how to make every trade a good one.

Only trade doubles you don't mind losing

Before you trade, put aside any card you'd be sad to see go. Trade the extras.

Check both cards

Look at the number, the rarity symbol and the condition. Make sure both people know exactly what they're swapping.

No pressure

A good trade is one where both people are happy. It's always fine to say “no thanks”.

Ask a grown-up

Always check with a parent or carer before trading, especially for rare cards. Never trade with strangers online, and never share your address or other personal details.

Young collectors: always ask a parent or carer before buying cards, trading online or sharing anything about yourself on the internet.
